Proposals Due Friday, May 26, 2023
Horses and Humans Research Foundation (HHRF), a 501(c)3 organization, announces this request for proposals to investigate the impact of Equine Assisted Services (EAS) on social, physical, cognitive, mental, emotional and/or spiritual aspects of participants. HHRF is thrilled to announce an increased award amount of up to $75,000 for this grant cycle. Deadline for submission of proposals is Friday, May 26, 2023.
HHRF endorses the concept of One Health defined by the CDC as “…the goal of achieving optimal health outcomes recognizing the interconnection between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment.” HHRF recognizes the depth and breadth of the field of EAS. With this in mind, the grant applications should include rigorous research proposals measuring the impact of the horse-human interaction on the wellbeing of the human participant including but not limited to the social, physical, cognitive, mental, and/or spiritual elements of the whole person.
All proposals undergo a four-tier review process completed by the Scientific Advisory Council. Preference will be given to investigators with solid credentials and research experience. The maximum award is $75,000 for up to two years. The winning proposal will have scientific merit, scientific and clinical significance, and relevance.
On behalf of the HHRF Board, our past board members, supporters, and our Scientific Advisory Council, we are pleased to offer this opportunity. Through this call, which reflects the need to address the gaps in knowledge in EAS, HHRF strives to support true leaps in research. Through peer reviewed research we all benefit from knowledge, application, and dissemination.
Information for applicants, including the recently updated application and review guidelines, previously funded projects, and more are available at horsesandhumans.org.
