L.A. is a 2017 recipient of the American Horse Publications (AHP) Chris Brune Spirit Award, and has been delivering award-winning coverage of international equestrian sports since her career began in the 1990s with the U.S. Equestrian Team and Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. The recipient of over a dozen AHP awards, including consecutive Freelance wins and a coveted Horse/Human Bond win, her insights into horse sport have also earned a Syracuse Press Club award, and since 2008, her His & Hers column has helped Elite Equestrian become the #1 Equestrian Lifestyle Magazine in the U.S. and #5 Worldwide Equine Magazine to Watch according to RSS feed reader, Feedspot.com. In 2020, her hosting and interviews for a livestream spin-off of her Horse Illustrated feature of the same name, Trailblazing Horsewomen, won best Publishing Media Equine-related Podcast and praise from AHP judges as an “heirloom piece” for the industry, while her journalistic hoof prints have also led to membership in the Numismatic Literary Guild and contributor to COINage magazine, and a regular byline on mineralogical and fossil findings in Rock & Gem magazine, including a look at the role of selenium and hoof health in Custer and his cavalry’s crushing defeat at Little Bighorn.
Today’s Horsewoman, produced by Rose Cushing, the North Carolina creative director and founder of Cushing Media Productions, is the first podcast produced exclusively for horsewomen, and offers a platform where the women that move the horse industry share their successes, issues, dreams and plans for the future.
