SaddleUpNY! and its industry partners are delighted to share that the 2023 New York State Equine Industry Economic Impact Study is now available for free as a single electronic download through use of google drive. This process has been confirmed for approved copyright practices by the American Horse Council as the organization responsible for the data collection and report(s). To receive a single use download link of the NY report, completion of a short survey is required to gather data on demographics and intended use of the. Equine economic impact data lands at the top of the tools available for advocating for support of the equine industry. Data is used in many ways including work with elected officials (local to state), business plan development, grant writing, educational opportunities with youth and adult populations, and in development of legislation. Two infographics highlighting key data points from the New York study are also available on the SaddleUpNY! website as free downloads suitable for printing and posting. The infographics highlight the $7 Billion Dollar impact in NY along with 52,000 jobs and preservation of 303,000 acres of land. In addition, information on involvement in Racing, Competition, and Recreation are included as well as popularity of horses in NY as almost 1 out of every 3 households NY has an equine enthusiast.
The New York State Economic Impact study was commissioned by SaddleUpNY! Industry Partners and made possible through the generous contributions of the following Industry Partners and friends: New York Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund, New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Old Field Farm, Ltd, Blue Chip Farm, John Madden Sales, Cornell University Hospital for Animals, New York Farm Bureau, New York State Horse Council, Karin Bump and Timothy Williams, Sally Lynch, Kent Nutrition, and Triple Crown Nutrition. In addition, a linked GoFundMe campaign was also utilized for essential broader support from individuals across the state.
SaddleUpNY! is a collaborative grass roots initiative to accelerate the success and growth of the NYS Equine Industry through delivery of promotion, connection, and education activities and materials that strengthen the existing industry and launch efforts to reach new audiences and markets.
