Final Leg Of Cross-Country Journey Ends With Mustang Summit in Sacramento CA at The 10th EQUUS Film & Arts Fest
Sunday October 30th saw the Mustang Discovery Ride Project cross the Nevada/California State Line, riding into the beautiful Lake Tahoe area with a group of Mustang riders from the area. They will head across the state stopping in the Napa Valley area for a “Meet the Mustangs” event before they arrive at Five Brooks Ranch and Campgrounds on November 26 thru the 29 for the final leg of the ride and filming for the documentary.
The ride was photographed and filmed in the Lake Washoe area by Ronda Gregorio, who is working on The Mustang Book Project “Wild Heart”, release is planned for December this year.
Gregorio, spent five days with the team riding and shooting content for the documentary, she had ridden with the team earlier in Washington, D.C.
Filmmaker Julianne Neal, with J A Media Productions, joined in Nevada as well to film more of the MDR story. She will be joining up with the team December 8th and complete the ride on Point Reyes November 29th.
After the ride ends, the team will head into Sacramento for the kick off of the 10th EQUUS Film & Arts Fest at The Murieta Inn & Spa, The Guild Theater and Rancho Murieta Equestrian Center. They will be joined on December 1st with filmmaker, Steve Latham, director of “The Mustangs: Americas Wild Horses”. Lisanne Fear with her horses and Team will meet with those attending the VIP Festival Grand Opening Gala Fundraiser Event. The evening will wrap up with a Q & A with the filmmaker and Amy Dumas, with the California BLM.
There will be a full schedule of Events and Panels as part of the Mustang Summit. The Main Panel on Friday December 2nd will be Mustangs For Mental Health, Youth Programs and Programs for Youth at Risk “Success Stories” with guest Dr. Sue Anne Wells and Dr. Elaine Swafford from Mustang Leadership Partners. Brianna Noble with Urban Cowgirl Ranch, Rod Mayes with Three Points Center in Nevada and Lynn Thomas with Horses For Mental Health. Other Panels will include “Love Wild Horses” with guest Jetara Séhart from Love Wild Horses and Neta Rhyne with Thundering Hooves. Nevada Discovery Ride guest Samantha Szesciorka Nevada American Discovery Trail coordinator. Mustangs From Round-Up to Holding to Homes with guest Amy Dumas, Bureau of Land Management and Matt Manroe. Equine Empowered Therapy with Veterans and Mustangs with guest Amanda Held with HOOVES, Clay McDermott and Will Friday with Equine Empowered Therapy.
Saturday December 3rd will host the “Wild Horse Fire Brigade” presentation at The Guild Theater at 10:00 AM with guest, William E. Simpson II, Deb Ferns, Kelsey Stangebye J.D, and Michelle Gough. They will host a discussion on The ‘Natural Wildfire Abatement and Forest Protection Plan’ using Wild Horses.
More Panels and Presentations will take place on Sunday December 4th at the Murieta Inn & Spa and the Murieta Equestrian Center. The weekend will wrap up with the Winnie Award Ceremony and Celebration.
The Mustang Discovery Ride team is moving West on the American Discovery Trail with some new adventurers joining the ride. We have opened the ride to riders who want to have a “Long Riding’ experience. The Mustang Discovery Ride will take us on a journey across the United States, coast to coast, on American Mustangs. Rider Lisanne Fear, along with guest riders, will cover 12 states taking over 12 months of riding, with the assistance of their support crew. Starting in Delaware in September 2021 and ending their journey on the California coast in November 2022.
