Kimes Ranch Athletes Qualify to National Finals Rodeo

Seven Kimes Ranch athletes will be competing under the Las Vegas lights this December at the National Finals Rodeo.

The newest member of the Kimes Ranch Rodeo Team, Tanner Butner, will be making his NFR debut. Joining Butner in the saddle bronc riding will be his traveling partner, Montana cowboy and four-time National Finals competitor Chase Brooks.

Two Louisiana natives will represent Kimes Ranch: Tristan Martin in the steer wrestling and Josie Conner in the breakaway roping. Martin returns to the iconic Thomas & Mack Center after finishing fifth in the world standings at his National Finals Rodeo debut.

Conner finished her rookie season in fifteenth place in the world, punching her ticket to Las Vegas. Her equine partner, “Dutch” (Stylish Drifter), was recently recognized as one of the top three horses in the Nutrena Horse of the Year Awards, while Conner won the Resistol Rookie of the Year. “I’m looking forward to competing in my first National Finals Breakaway Roping!” says Conner. She is excited to compete in the ten head average and against the fourteen other top breakaway ropers in the world.

Beau Peterson of Council Grove, Kansas and Jordi Edens of Gatesville, Texas will compete alongside Conner in the National Finals Breakaway Roping, held November 29th and 30th at the South Point Arena.

Barrel racer Wenda Johnson is headed into her third National Finals Rodeo sitting third in the barrel racing world standings. She is partnered with her most well-known horse, “Mac” (Macyver Moonflash) and will be bringing “Mo” (Steal Money) as her alternate.

The National Finals Rodeo will be held December 1-10 at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be broadcast daily on the Cowboy Channel and through the Cowboy Channel app.
