The EQUUS Foundation will once again be partnering with the Hampton Classic Horse Show to present adoptable horses at the Hampton Classic’s Animal Adoption Day on Monday, August 29. The gathering will showcase rescued and adoptable horses – from off-track Thoroughbreds to mini horses – in Hunter Ring 2 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and will also include tours of the HEART Horse Ambulance. Parking and admission are free.
“We are thrilled to once again be able to showcase adoptable horses seeking forever homes at this beautiful horse show, thanks to the generosity of our EQUUStar and top international equestrian, Georgina Bloomberg,” said Valerie Angeli, VP of Engagement.
Bloomberg will be on hand to meet and greet horse lovers who attend and will be joined by Jill Rappaport, renown animal advocate and award-winning author and media personality, and EQUUS Foundation EQUUStars, Brianne Goutal-Marteau and Clementine Goutal.
Participating equine organizations will include Gerda’s Equine Rescue, New England Equine Rescue North, Omega Horse Rescue, Rising Starr Horse Rescue, Retired Racehorse Project, and the Mustang Heritage Foundation. The live event will also have a virtual component here featuring the adoptable horses of EQUUS Foundation Guardian charities nationwide on the EQUUS Foundation Next Chapters platform.
“This joyful and educational day is a highlight each year at the Hampton Classic where spectators and horse lovers can come learn about horse welfare, rescue and adoption and be part of helping horses find second chances,” continued Angeli. “If you can’t adopt, there is still so much you can do to help horses. Come learn from the experts and be inspired on this special day!”
NOT EVERYONE CAN ADOPT A HORSE – BUT YOU CAN STILL HELP!
HERE’S THREE WAYS!
$35,000 Lafitte De Muze Matching Campaign
Now Through September 4, 2022 – From One Horse to Another!
Donations made to the EQUUS Foundation starting now through the conclusion of the Hampton Classic Horse Show on September 4 will be matched by prize money won by EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassador, Lafitte De Muze, and donated by his owner, Cheryl Olsten, up to $35,000.
EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassadors are sport horses whose owners donate a portion of their winnings in equestrian sport competitions to help ensure that all horses are safe, healthy, and treated with dignity as partners.
That’s $70,000 to help care for horses who have been the victim of abuse and neglect – and saved from being shipped off to slaughter, as well as horses at equine therapeutic centers who are enriching and improving the lives of people facing hardships, especially children, veterans and first responders.
