Experience Prince George’s, the official destination marketing organization for Prince George’s County, Maryland, has been named the presenting sponsor of the prestigious $406,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI5*-W for the President’s Cup held at the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Following its anticipated return to the Washington, D.C. area, from October 24 through 30, WIHS will showcase thrilling equestrian sport, entertaining exhibitions, and special events at two prominent venues in Prince George’s County: The Show Place Arena at Prince George’s Equestrian Center (PGEC) in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and the National Harbor waterfront complex in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
“I’m thrilled that WIHS is returning to the Washington, D.C. area,” stated Victoria Lowell, President, WIHS. “The show is rooted in tradition and history and has prided itself on its unique ability to share world-class show jumping and the joy of horses with spectators and fans, and we’ll be able to do that again in Prince George’s County. With this in mind, I’m delighted to welcome Experience Prince George’s as presenting sponsor of the show’s grand prix. Being able to tap the organization’s resources and team of knowledgeable marketers enables us to further extend our mission of bringing horses to people who might not otherwise have the opportunity. We’re very appreciative of their support and know they will help ensure that this year’s WIHS will be the best yet.”
“Prince George’s County has a vibrant, active community and being able to host this prominent international sporting event here is very exciting,” said Leslie Graves, President and CEO, Experience Prince George’s. “Our goal as an organization is to bring unique and engaging experiences to our residents as well as tourists while helping bolster the local economy and generate demand for many of our local and regional businesses. We are proud to partner with WIHS and look forward to introducing community members to the wonderful world of horse sport.”
This year, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan designated October as Maryland Horse Month to recognize and celebrate the numerous contributions made by the state’s horse industry. Given its community focus and its ability to attract some of the world’s best horses and athletes, WIHS is a pillar of Maryland Horse Month and will be a major attraction for horse enthusiasts statewide and beyond. In addition to WIHS, other major equestrian sporting events taking place across Maryland in October include the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill eventing competition in Elkton, and the Jim McKay Maryland Million horse race at Laurel Park in Laurel.
