Brooke USA Campaign Surpasses $1.5 Million Milestone, Aims to Reach $1.6 Million by June 30th

Brooke USA Foundation is thrilled to announce that its one-year campaign, The Donkey Project, has exceeded the $1.5 million mark in funds raised since July 1, 2023. With the generous support of donors worldwide, the organization is on track to achieve its ambitious stretch goal of $1.6 million by June 30, 2024.

The campaign, launched in honor of working donkeys globally, has garnered widespread support, allowing Brooke USA to expand its reach and impact within communities that rely on these noble animals for routine yet necessary chores – from putting food on family tables, sending children to school, fetching water from afar or building better futures for all. At the cost of $15 per donkey per year, friends and supporters can make a huge difference in the lives of these vital steeds.

“We are thrilled to have surpassed the $1.5 million milestone, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors,” said Emily Dulin, CEO of Brooke USA. “Every dollar raised brings us closer to our stretch goal of $1.6 million, which will enable us to make an even greater difference in the lives of working donkeys and those that depend on them for survival worldwide.”

Since its inception, the campaign has gained momentum, rallying individuals, organizations, and communities to join the cause of improving the welfare of working donkeys and their equine counterparts worldwide. The additional funds raised will empower Brooke USA to extend its current initiatives, reaching almost 7,000 more donkeys than previously anticipated. This will ensure their well-being for generations to come thanks to Brooke USA’s strategy of funding sustainable programming, including training and education, community capital investments and emergency preparedness.

“We are deeply grateful for the continued support and dedication of our donors, whose contributions enable us to fulfill our mission of alleviating the suffering of working equines,” added Jim Hamilton, Chair of the Board of Brooke USA. “As we strive to reach our $1.6 million target by June 30th, we invite everyone to join us in honoring Dorothy Brooke’s legacy during her birthday month while making a tangible difference in the lives of these resilient animals.”

On June 1, Brooke USA will launch a month-long celebration to honor the remarkable legacy of Dorothy Brooke, the namesake of the organization. Throughout June, Brooke USA will commemorate Dorothy Brooke’s enduring impact on the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules worldwide with a series of engaging activities and creative initiatives, concluding with its inaugural Giving Day on June 30th.
