LiftMeUp!, a PATH, Intl. Member Center located in Great Falls, Virginia. The winner was announced November 21st at 3:00pm Central Standard Time on Facebook Live by Wendy Murdoch of The Murdoch Method, the company that recently launched The HAY SOAKER.
“With several elderly equine in their therapeutic riding program and four of them diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease and Insulin Resistance, “ says Wendy, “I feel like The HAY SOAKER is going to the right place.”
To be eligible, each entry was asked to 1) write 100 words on why their horse (or pony) needed The HAY SOAKER, 2) “Like” and “Share” the Facebook post about the giveaway, and 3) visit www.thehaysoaker.com to find the answer to a question about laminitis.
In addition to these four horses, Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator for LiftMeUp! Jackie Collins wrote that having a “time-able” hay soaker would help their Norwegian Fjord mare Delfinia enormously.
“We have an automatic feeder from Denmark to ensure she gets small amounts of feed every few hours, and she takes a lot of medications that have to be carefully managed and interspersed with her feed,” says Jackie. “The automatic hay soaker will be a huge help in keeping her meds and feeding schedule more manageable.”
Jackie also notes that, because the Center relies on volunteers to help with the program, the more things can be set up automatically, the better they can manage Delifinia’s schedule.
“This is exactly why we added a timer that works off an app on your smart phone to The HAY SOAKER,” says Wendy. “It can be challenging to manage a horse with a metabolic condition that’s prone to laminitis. With all the other things this therapeutic riding center has on their plate, they really needed a ‘set it and forget it’ way to soak hay for their horses.”
