“The Natural Horsemanship Revolution” September 8-10, hosted by the Montana Center for Horsemanship focusing on a global understanding of natural horsemanship, will feature a wide range of presentations, keynotes, award winning films and natural horsemanship leaders with a goal of education and knowledge, to advance the horse-human relationship. Co-presented by the University of Montana Western, in partnership with the nonprofit MCH, Montana Western offers the nation’s first and only university degrees in Natural Horsemanship.
Featured speakers include Buck Brannaman, Ty Murray, Dr. Glenn Blodgett, chief veterinarian with the Four Sixes Ranch, Olympian James Wofford, Breeder Stan Weaver of Weaver Quarter Horses, Kansas Carradine, an international equestrian and performer, the renowned “horse brain doc” Dr. Stephen Peters, NH trainers and teachers from Haras de la Cense in France, Manu & Caroline Godin, Dr. Ann Perkins, founder of Anthrozoology, filmmaker Stephen Latham, producer of “The Mustangs, America’s Horses,” and Bud Force of 1922 Films and producer of the award winning documentary “The Cowboys.”
In addition to demonstrations, speakers and panels, the Conference will feature an in-depth look at the breadth and scope of saddles, saddle fit, saddle analysis including an amazing raffle for a custom saddle, pads, shims, the whole package, presented by Contour Saddles and the Natural Horseman Saddles. Rodeo icon, Ty Murray, a strong natural horsemanship advocate, will be part of the saddle program – “my horses’ comfort is important to me. When they are comfortable, they are going to be better, physically, mentally and emotionally. I sure don’t want to walk around all day in boots that dig in or rub a blister. The design of the underside of the saddle and the interface (pad) is the most important part. Education is key.” Letitia Glenn, founder of Contour Saddles who will present adds – “Providing education, tools and techniques to help you and your horses discover your best possible saddle fit is the joy of my life. We’ll observe and compare some live before & after examples at the conference so everyone can feel empowered!”
In addition to a deep dive into saddles and saddle fit, the conference will feature renowned hoof care professional, Chris Mason and groundbreaking new innovations for treating laminitis and founder. “Natural Hoof care” says Chris, “has become a buzz word within the equine world in recent years, and as with most buzz words they are a detriment to the profession. Current leaders in the hoof care profession have developed a fully integrated approach, which beyond the understanding of the barefoot horse includes a sophisticated array of protocols that include modern plastic shoes, dietary protocols, improved diagnostic methods and a holistic understanding of the entire horse, which has substantial effects on the feet.” Chris will demonstrate and share extensive evidence-based knowledge and research.
“Key to this conference, which includes award-winning films from EQUUS International Film Festival is education and “where do we go from here” – to develop a blueprint for advancing every aspect of the horse-human relationship, to create happier horses and riders, and to develop a new vision for the future,” according to Janet Rose, coordinating this second annual international conference.
