Horses and Humans Research Foundation (HHRF) Invites You to Attend Two Free Webinars in February

Horses and Humans Research Foundation invites you to participate in two free webinars in February.

The first webinar “Applying for an HHRF Grant- the Vital Steps to Success with Dr. Clare Thomas-Pino” will be held on February 16, 2022, at 11:00am (ET).

Dr. Thomas-Pino’s perspective is of someone who has been reviewing grant applications for HHRF since its inception and will cover the fundamental items that must be included in an HHRF grant application to prevent your application from being rejected and increase the potential you will be considered for funding. It will also include vital aspects of the HHRF Equine Well-Being Guidelines for Humans from The Horse’s Perspective, to ensure highest regard is shown to the animals we work with in Equine Assisted Services (EAS) in your applications and research.

Since its inception, Dr. Thomas-Pino has been a grant reviewer and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for HHRF, a funding body that provides grants for Equine Assisted Services. She was on the Board of Directors for EFMHA (the mental health and education wing of NARHA- now PATH International), and headed the research committees, completing 2 annotated bibliographies on EAAT (Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies).

Are you interested in equine assisted services as a treatment for veterans with PTSD? Join the Horses and Human Research Foundation (HHRF), Dr. Laurie McDuffee, DVM, PhD, DACVS, and Dr. William J. Montelpare, Ph.D., for a free webinar presenting the preliminary results from an HHRF funded project.  Drs McDuffee and Montelpare explore the efficacy of equine psychotherapy on human-horse dyads through changes in measures of stress hormones and heart rate variability measures (HRV) in both human and horse participants, along with PTSD symptoms in humans, and measured behavioral responses in horses.

Join us on February 23, 2022, at 7:00pm (ET) for “Making Sense of Horse-Human Interactions: Exploring Real World Data” webinar. In this part two webinar (part one is on HHRF YouTube channel), we will explore the statistical considerations that emerged in our Horses and Human research, and especially with regard to EFP applications. For example, while in Webinar #1 we introduced the concept of synchronization within the responses of the dyads, in Webinar #2 we will review the methods to calculate the measures of agreement between the selected objective and subjective measures that help us to understand the effects of the EFP program on the well-being of horses and humans.

Please join us for these interesting topics and dynamic speakers.
