Event marks return of in-person learning; virtual option also available
Equine veterinarians and veterinary students will write the next verse of their careers in Music City USA when the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) 67th Annual Convention convenes Dec. 4–8 at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn.
The convention is the most comprehensive continuing education event dedicated to equine practice, with an educational program offering 147.5 hours of CE presented by renowned practitioners in the field, laboratory and classroom; a 300-exhibitor trade show spotlighting the latest technologies, services and products to improve practice; and a slate of networking and social events to renew friendships and build new career connections.
Attendees will acquire the latest diagnostic and treatment solutions in core practice areas such as lameness, rehabilitation, dentistry, reproduction, internal medicine and more. In addition, small-group dry labs on Dec. 5 will enable practitioners to learn a new clinical technique or refresh their skill set in the areas of navicular bursa injection, endometrial culture and cytology, podiatry and ultrasound-guided spinal joint injections.
In addition to the abundant educational opportunities, convention attendees will catch up with old classmates and friends during the many social and networking events. Among the events is Storytelling Nashville Style, a Dec. 5 benefit for The Foundation for the Horse featuring legendary storytelling by some of the best singer/songwriters in Nashville, including Grammy Award winner Rory Feek. The social calendar culminates on Dec. 7 with the Zoetis-sponsored After Party, a complimentary celebration at the world-famous Wildhorse Saloon.
The AAEP and the Music City Center are committed to protecting the health and safety of convention attendees. The AAEP will follow the most current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the time of the event regarding the wearing of masks. The Music City Center has earned accreditation as a Global BioRisk Advisory Council STARTM Facility for their stringent cleaning, disinfecting and infectious disease prevention processes.
Complementing the much-anticipated return to an in-person convention is availability of a virtual option for those unable to join their colleagues in Nashville. The virtual option includes on-demand access to 24 educational sessions in addition to a dozen live, post-convention Table Topics to be held virtually Dec. 13–17. On-demand viewing will be available beginning Dec. 13. On-demand sessions will be available indefinitely, and CE hours from on-demand sessions can be earned through March 31, 2022. Those who register for the on-site convention will receive access to on-demand sessions at no additional cost.
To register, view the educational program or book a hotel room, visit convention.aaep.org. Early-bird discounted rates are available through Sept. 15. To ensure flexibility and peace of mind should plans change after registering, the AAEP is offering a 100% refund of registration fees.
