The Retired Racehorse Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the Thoroughbred aftercare industry, is seeking a Communications Intern to begin June 1, 2025 and continue through the Fall 2025 semester. This position will report to the Communications Manager. This position is remote with mandatory in-person attendance at the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, October 8-11, 2025 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Communications Intern responsibilities:
Work with marketing team to develop and implement social media strategies and campaigns Assist with planning, writing and distribution of organizational e-blasts, web news and press releases Support the Communications Manager and development team with racing industry outreach projects for the Thoroughbred Makeover Attend the Thoroughbred Makeover as part of the RRP media team Develop familiarity with programs including Hubspot, Monday, Air, Slack, and Canva Intern qualifications/skills:
Verbal & written communication Organization & time management Professionalism Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Ability to travel to the Thoroughbred Makeover, October 8-11, 2024 Education & Experience:
Enrolled in college undergraduate communications or marketing program Equestrian background preferred Minimum 10 hours/week. Option to participate in team or staff meetings as well as industry committee meetings. This position is unpaid, but travel expenses will be reimbursed and lodging will be covered.
