The Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) announced today that Erin Gilmore Photography will be the Official Show Photographer of the 2024 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, Presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America. The 2024 competition takes place on October 9-12 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, and features competition in ten equestrian sports for recently-retired Thoroughbred ex-racehorses in their first year of life beyond racing.
“As photographers, my team and I are passionate about showcasing the best moments of your competition week because we are riders as well,” says Erin Gilmore. “We know how much hard work and dedication it takes to qualify and compete at the Thoroughbred Makeover, and we will create stunning memories of your achievements in Kentucky. This year, your TB Makeover images will be available in beautiful, high resolution edited form very shortly after your competition day. We understand your excitement and can’t wait to share it with you.”
“We’re looking forward to having Erin Gilmore and her team as our official photographer for the 2024 Thoroughbred Makeover,” said Kirsten Green, RRP executive director. “We know our competitors will cherish having their achievements captured through the lenses of the Erin Gilmore Photography team.”
Erin Gilmore Photography covers internationally rated equestrian events as official photographer in the Northeast USA and beyond. Photography Policy
Out of respect for the Official Show Photographer, the RRP will be implementing the following photography protocols during the 2024 Thoroughbred Makeover, which can be read in full on the RRP website. Only the Official Show Photographers are permitted to take competitor images and sell them to the public; visitors, spectators and exhibitors are permitted to take photographs and record video for personal use only.
Professional photography equipment, including but not limited to cameras with lenses longer than 4 inches, tripods, monopods, or any video camera mounted on a tripod or other stabilizing device are not permitted under any circumstances. Media representatives with approved credentials are the only exception; media representative applications will open on June 3, 2024. No private photography credentials will be issued.
The Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) is a 501(c)3 charitable organization working to increase demand for off-track Thoroughbreds beyond racing. In addition to producing the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, the world’s largest and most lucrative retraining competition for recently-retired racehorses, the organization also maintains an educational library of content to empower more equestrians to ride a Thoroughbred, offers the only Thoroughbred-only online horse listings, and conducts clinics and seminars throughout the country.
