With more than 43 years of experience in the equine, horse health, and veterinary industries, Kimberly S. Brown has retired from full-time work at Equine Network and is taking on selected clients for her company, The Homestead Information Network, Inc. (THIN Inc.).
She continues to do some special projects for Equine Network, where she held the title of Group Publisher, Equine Health Network, at the time of her retirement at the end of 2023. The Equine Health Network was comprised of EquiManagement (equine veterinarians), The Horse (horse owners and vets, and which Brown founded and ran for the first 15 years of its existence), EQUUS (horse owners), and Stable Management (horse farm and stable owners/managers and riding instructors).
Brown started her career with The Blood-Horse weekly magazine, earning an Honorable Mention Eclipse Award for the article Saving Nureyev (https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/190702/a-look-back-saving-nureyev). In 1995, Brown started The Horse: Your Guide to Equine Health Care and TheHorse.com. Recognizing the coming trend of finding information online, Brown led an award-winning team of young professionals to create one of the top horse health resource sites for horse owners and equine veterinarians. She, her staff, and The Horse won numerous American Horse Publications awards. After nearly 30 years at a company, she retired from publishing and worked at Kentucky Equine Research for a time before joining what became the Equine Network. She spent a little more than 10 years there prior to retiring from full-time work with the company.

Brown will accept a few, select clients in 2024. She is focused on project ideation and development, editorial services, and marketing in the equine health/veterinary sides of the industry.
Brown, who now resides in Wyoming, will continue to work on her own writing projects, travel, and spend time riding her horses and driving her mini-mule.
