“We are thrilled to announce that our 13th annual AEL National Championships will be held at the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA on May 11th and 12th, 2024 and will be judged by CJ Law, Belchertown, MA and Amanda Hare, Sutton, MA,” said Sally Batton, AEL Founder and President.
“Dana Hall School is truly honored to be hosting the 2024 AEL National Championships. The ideals of the AEL aligns very closely with the values of our program here at Dana Hall and we are proud to be part of an organization that places such an emphasis on building well-rounded equestrians. We believe in producing riders that are as well educated in the barn as they are in the saddle and we believe that the AEL shares this important goal. We are eager to share our horses and facilities with the AEL community. We love the AEL because the open nature of the evaluation criteria and specifically the shared score sheets and judge’s comments helps our riders understand how they can improve their riding,” shared Sarah Summers, Dana Hall School Director of the Equestrian Center.
CJ Law from Belchertown, MA has been the head coach of the Mount Holyoke IHSA Equestrian Team for 40 years and is credited with 3 IHSA National Team Championships, 4 Tournament of Champions titles and has coached over 20 IHSA Individual National Champions. With a background in eventing and dressage as well as hunter/jumper, CJ Law is highly qualified to judge the AEL’s unique, objective scoring system.
Amanda Hare from Sutton, MA grew up in Pony Club and rode on the Endicott College IHSA team before becoming the Wheaton College head coach leading them to their first regional Championship win in 2006. “I love judging AEL because the format allows a positive, high quality, competitive team riding experience for children right up through adults.”
The Athletic Equestrian League (AEL) is an organization of equestrian athletes who compete in individual and team competition on the flat for 40% of the score, over fences/ground poles for 40% of the score and in an unmounted Practicum for 20% of the score. The AEL includes a Minis development division for 1st-3rd grades and team and individual competition for 4th-12th graders and adults.
