Schleese is excited and proud to announce that the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association has approved the Saddlefit 4 Life online and onsite practicum curriculum of the Certified Equine Ergonomist program for OVMA Continuing Education Credits.
Accreditation in the Oxford Dictionary is defined as:
“The official approval given by an organisation stating that somebody/something has achieved a required standard.” Combined, the term “CPD accreditation” describes the process for verifying the educational authority of training, online education and coaching providers. It ensures that the CPD learning activities offered conforms to third party, industry standards.
Saddlefit 4 Life is the educational arm of Schleese Saddlery Service and was established in 2006 to allow our Certified Master Saddler Jochen Schleese to teach saddle fitting and ergonomics at the German National Riding School in Warendorf, without an explicit product connection.
Saddlefit 4 Life (S4L) has since established a successful curriculum and teaching syllabus using Jochen’s best-selling book “Suffering in Silence: The Saddle Fit Link to Physical and Psychological Trauma in Horses” as one of its key reference materials, among many others written by various equine professionals and veterinarians. S4L has just recently cemented ties with the University of Guelph’s OVC faculty to continue to support the education and financial stability of its equine veterinarian candidates, with travel grants for their externships, sponsorship of their annual Equine Practitioner’s Forum, and working towards including the curriculum as an external rotation option.
Participants of the course may claim a total of forty (40) hours of credit towards their OVMA Continuing Education Recognition Program for the theory, plus an additional 110 hours if they complete the entire Certified Equine Ergonomist training including the onsite practicum with hands-on diagnostics and evaluations. It is suggested that equine professionals confirm with their own governing bodies that the OVMA accreditation is relevant in their geographical regions. Interested equine veterinarians may use the link below to register.
This is a great opportunity for Equine Veterinarians to add a skill which can provide an additional source of income while earning mandatory continued education credits. The impact this knowledge could have on the well-being of clients and their horses could make a huge difference!
