Haygain is proud to support Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy by donating a portion of all sales May 17-31 to this non-profit endeavor serving veterans in Omaha, Nebraska.
A 5% discount on all Haygain products is on offer through the same period.
With Memorial Day, Monday May 29, in the middle of this special campaign, the horse health company joins efforts to raise funds, awareness and appreciation for American veterans.
A portion of proceeds from the sale of Haygain Hay Steamers, the Forager Slow Feeder and ComfortStall Sealed Orthopedic Flooring will be directed to this highly recommended organization that goes by its acronym – HETRA.
HETRA has been serving the greater Metro Omaha area for the past 34 years, explains CEO Edye Godden. It is the only Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International Premier Accredited Center in Nebraska. Its instructors are nationally certified therapeutic riding Instructors and their work is enhanced by occupational, physical and mental health therapists on staff.
Omaha Connection
Haygain learned about HETRA while at the Longines FEI World Cup Finals in Omaha. The organizers of the international show jumping, dressage and vaulting competition, the Omaha Equestrian Federation, spoke highly of the program.
“The services provided by HETRA are a tremendous asset to our community and a daily reminder of the important role horses can play in many types of therapy and recovery programs,” says Julie Boilesen, CEO of the Omaha Equestrian Federation. “Horses enrich lives on so many levels.”
HETRA’s multi-dimensional offerings serve veterans, family members and caregivers. Extensive opportunities range from a basic introduction to horses to an Advanced Horse Academy in which ground-based horsemanship skills are taught, along with how horses can be a mirror to our actions as humans.
“We focus on what the horse is telling us about ourselves and how we are presenting and impacting the horse and how this relates back to everyday life,” explains Edye.
Core programs include adapted riding, therapy services and carriage driving, Edye continues. A Healing Through Hooves curriculum is facilitated by mental health and occupational therapists and uses groundwork with horses to help participants process vital issues and learn new coping skills. Coffee get-togethers, opportunities to help with various projects and an apprenticeship program are additional HETRA offerings.
