Brooke USA Foundation Scores a “Perfect 100” in Charity Navigator’s Rating System

Reflecting its strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency, Brooke USA has secured a “Perfect 100” charity score and a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator rating more than 200,000 charities a year.

Four stars is the highest possible rating and is awarded to charities who receive a score of 90 or higher out of 100. More importantly, Brooke USA  ranked among the less than one-tenth of one percent of charities that earn a perfect score of 100. The score indicates that Brooks USA adheres to the best practices in the nonprofit sector and is financially efficient.

Additionally, a four-star rating signifies that an evaluated nonprofit exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in a similar line of work. This means that donors can give with confidence as Brooke USA continues to work endlessly to improve the health, welfare and productivity of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people who depend on them for survival worldwide.

“Brooke USA is incredibly proud to receive a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. Because Brooke USA does not receive government funding, it is gratifying to share the Charity Navigator recognition with every person, organization, and business that supports our work, as it all boils down to how we invest and use their contributions to improve the lives of people and animals alike,” said Emily Dulin, Brooke USA’s CEO.

“These ratings are a statement to the continued good work of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, friends, volunteers, and staff. We remain committed to exceeding industry standards, operating efficiently and furthering our reach and impact. We are honored to have earned this outstanding ranking that demonstrates our financial transparency and public trustworthiness,” said Jim Hamilton, DVM, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Jump started in 2016, Brooke USA was incorporated in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) to alleviate the suffering of working equines and their owners and to honor the legacy of global founder Dorothy Brooke who in 1934, founded the Brooke Hospital for the Animals in Cairo, Egypt. Brooke USA features an 18-member Board of Directors from all over the country each serving three-year terms, and a representative from Brooke: Action for Working Horses & Donkeys, headquartered in the United Kingdom and the sister organization to Brooke USA.
