National Museum of Racing’s Student Art Show Opens Saturday; submissions Now Being Welcomed for Museum’s Photography Exhibition

Win, Place, Show: The Annual Student Art Exhibition of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, opens to the public Saturday, March 4. The exhibit, which features more than 30 works of art from students throughout the Capital Region in grades 3-7, will run through April 2 in the Museum’s von Stade Gallery.

The Museum will also be displaying several works from members of the cerebral palsy community through our joint collaboration with the Cerebral Palsy Association of New York State. Originally unveiled in 2022, the Museum is proud to serve as a new home for this exhibition. This exhibition will run from March 4 until May 14, also in the von Stade gallery.

Additionally, the Museum will continue to accept submissions for the grades 8-12 division of the Win, Place, Show until 4 p.m. on April 2. That exhibition runs from April 15 through May 14.

Photo Finish submissions for 2023 now being accepted

The Museum is now accepting submissions for the fifth annual juried photography exhibition, Photo Finish. Entries may be submitted by professional as well as amateur photographers and must relate to the sport of thoroughbred racing in America. Any aspect of the racing experience may be depicted, including, but not limited to, racing scenes, the backstretch, and emotions of the crowd. We encourage creative and unique perspectives.

New for 2023: If selected, photographers will only need to print and mat photos and framing will no longer be required. Additionally, two submissions will be allowed per person. All submissions must be received by June 30. Application forms will be available at the Museum’s Visitor Services desk and can be downloaded from the Museum’s website here: https://racingmuseum.org/photo-finish.

A panel of judges representing both the racing and arts communities will select photographs for the exhibition, which will open in the von Stade Gallery in November. Additional photographs may be selected at the discretion of the judges to be included in the online exhibition. The fourth annual Photo Finish online exhibition will be available on the Museum website through October and can be accessed here: https://www.racingmuseum.org/exhibits/photo-finish-juried-photography-online-exhibition
