The National Finals Rodeo (NFR) 2022 is right around the corner! The 10 days of competition for the world’s top cowboys and cowgirls in Las Vegas December 1-10 will feature 3 Team FLAIR members: barrel racers Stevi Hillman and Dona Kay Rule and steer wrestler Dirk Tavenner.
Sidelined with an injury at the Cinch Playoffs September 8 in Puyallup, Washington, Dirk Tavenner was back in the saddle by November for the Wilderness Circuit Championship, winning the year end title. Dirk had an incredible first NFR experience last year, placing in 6 of the 10 rounds, including a Round 1 win and splitting the win in Round 10. We look forward to an amazing NFR performance from Dirk.
Both Stevi Hillman and Dona Kay Rule have had exceptional years and are high in the world standings. Their equine athletes have also earned top honors in the sport, with Dona Kay’s horse HIGH VALOR, “Valor”, and Stevi’s horse CUATRO FAME, “Truck”, earning the second and third places, respectively, for the Nutrena Horse of the Year in barrel racing.
Competing for $13.3 million in prize money and the PRCA Gold Buckle, the NFR event at the Thomas & Mack Center is sure to be nothing short of exciting. From all of us at Achieve Equine, we wish all the athletes – both two legged and four legged – safe, successful rides and the best of luck to all competitors at the forthcoming competition.
