Horse&Rider is pleased to announce Shauna Brown as the winner of the first ever Horse&Rider Trainer of the Year Program.
The program is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate a horse trainer who exemplifies what it means to be a good steward of the equine industry. Out of all the trainers nominated, 10 finalists were selected, with one earning the title of Trainer of the Year.
Shauna Brown is a top National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRyHA) and Youth Equestrian Development Association (YEDA) coach in Union City, Pennsylvania. Brown’s knack for working with and coaching young riders has led her clients to make victories including a 13-and-under rider placing the Top 10 in national in the NRHA, 2018 Congress Short Stirrup Champion, 2022 YEDA Sr. High National High Point Team, and YEDA Jr. High National High Point Team. She currently coaches the M and M Equestrians, the top ranked YEDA team in the nation for the past two years.
“Last year I wanted to try catch riding, and Shauna quickly suggested I join her YEDA team,” said Haley Turner, 2022 NRyHA president and one of Brown’s students. “I joined the team as a reiner but added horsemanship to my skills. Thanks to Shauna, I improved my abilities and had a blast doing so.”
Prizes for the first ever Horse&Rider Trainer of the Year were provided by Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences, Inc. makers of Cosequin®️. In addition, Brown will be interviewed for Horse&Rider’s podcast, The Ride, and be featured in a special training feature on HorseandRider.com
