Missoula, Montana welcomes back EQUUS International Film Festival, and the Montana Center for Horsemanship, featuring award-winning equine films from around the world. The Festival returns to the historic Roxy Theater November 4 & 5, premiering “Cowboys – A Documentary Portrait” one night only, Thursday, November 4th at 7pm. The following day, November 5th, EIFF will feature award winners from current and previous film festivals. Among them, this year’s Best of Festival, Unreined, about an Israeli equestrian who, in the face of political, social and cultural backlash, helped develop the Palestinian International Equestrian Team. Also, featured, Desert Flight a runner up for Best of Festival about human and horse perseverance in the face of adversity. The Festival also brings back the acclaimed, award winner, A Horse, A Convict, a Chance for Change, about one of the nation’s innovative prison programs, pairing inmates with wild mustangs, established by the local mustang trainer, Joe Misner, founder of the Wild2Ride Academy.
The two-day event will also feature a silent auction of All Things Wild, Western and Equine to benefit Horse Haven Montana, equine rescue and adoption and the Montana Center for Horsemanship, the nation’s leading international equine education center located in Dillon, Montana.

EIFF, or EQUUS International, was first established in 2011 as an outreach project of the equine rescue and adoption organization, Horse Haven Montana, headquartered here in the Missoula area. The festival was conceived to educate, inspire and celebrate equines in film and television and the people who tell these stories. This year, the festival was incorporated into the first annual Horse, Human and Nature Conference, hosted by the Montana Center for Horsemanship. The Festival roots are here in Missoula and founder, Janet Rose wanted to bring the best equine films back to western Montana.
